Overview
Mexican feminist philosopher Eli Bartra (Mexico City 1947) presents a review of various depictions of naked women in art. Although her main object is the art produced in Mexico in the 20th and 21st centuries, she also presents some important naked or that caught her attention from diverse parts of the world. The author did not seek to make a chronological overview, she asked about the feminine creativity, a recurring theme in her work, to then name a series of works of art from different countries and in particular from Mexico, organizing them by themes such as motherhood, eroticism or hidden bodies, among others. Bartra names and reviewed some works from a large number of artists dedicated to painting, engraving, sculpture, photography, performance, photography and folk art.
